Teacher Licensure-Only Track
If you have already earned your bachelor’s degree and seek Illinois Teacher Licensure only, successfully completing Kendall’s licensure-only track will qualify you to apply for the Illinois Teaching License.
You may wish to focus your studies in any of six areas, including:
- Childhood Nutrition
- English as a Second Language (ESL)
- Grant Management
- Infants and Toddlers
- Small Business Management
- Special Education
Completing applicable Special Education coursework will allow you to apply for an Early Childhood Special Education approval on your license.
By choosing to focus your studies on English as a Second Language (ESL) and completing applicable coursework, you will be able to work with students in a multi-cultural environment. If you wish to become fully qualified to teach in an ESL or Bilingual classroom, completing two additional courses will make you eligible to apply for an ESL or Bilingual endorsement on your teaching license. To qualify for a Bilingual endorsement, you must also pass a language proficiency test through the Illinois Certification/Licensure Testing System.
Kendall's School of Education is approved by the Illinois State Board of Education for its licensure preparation program that leads to the Illinois Teacher License.
The student should contact the Illinois State Board of Education or Regional Office of Education to confirm if a particular endorsement can be added to the license held by the student.
