Become a certified teacher. Earn your B.A. in Early Childhood Education with Illinois Type 04 Teacher Certification Preparation. The B.A. in Early Childhood Education program that leads to certification includes field experiences and student-teaching components at both the pre-primary and primary levels.
Once you obtain Illinois Type 04 Teacher Certification, you can work with children (birth through age 8) in schools that require state certification*.
*If your state has a license comparable to an Illinois Type 04 Teacher Certificate (early childhood education, birth through third grade), your state may recognize your Illinois certificate and allow it to be used to gain similar licensure in your state. To learn more about what your state requires in terms of recognizing an out-of-state license, please contact your state’s board of education or teacher licensing/certification department.
B.A. in Early Childhood Education Concentrations
Students will choose an area of concentration in either Special Education or Infants and Toddlers and complete applicable coursework.
